Macro photography can be so bloody frustrating, but other times, it can be very rewarding. Like today, I found this weird blue lady bug. It took some time, but I finally got a good shot of him with the help of the bride.
If you do, and it is not listed over there on the right, let me know about it and I will add it. I get a massive amount of traffic a day, at least 4 visitors every day, so I can probably generate some traffic for you!
Well, for what ever reason, I decided to throw some Fuji Superior 400 film through the Canonet QL19. Normally I would test a camera out with some B&W film that I can test develop myself. But I threw caution and $6.20 (cost of film and developing to negatives) to the wind and I am glad I did. The shots came out with that filmy, grainy, unique colour cast and under exposed look that I love about film.

I am looking forward to putting some more rolls through that camera. It is a keeper for sure.
What happens when you aren’t concentrating fully on what you are doing. A couple of weeks back I got some stainless steel reels for the developing tank. They cost me an arm and a leg and a kidney and some of my frontal lobe, but boy are they worth it. Well I obviously got a bit cocky. Loading a roll of Kodak TX400 120 film last night whilst watching Family Guy, I must have been enjoying the show too much and wasn’t concentrating. Pull the film out and hung it in the laundry over night. Didn’t even bother looking at it at the time. Got up this morning and before I left I had a quick glance. Oh sweet jesus, what happened? Obviously it wasn’t on the reel properly and film was crinkled and touching the side of the tank and other parts of the film. d’oh! Oh well, lesson learnt.
The worst part of photography for me is coming home with a 4 gig card full of photos. Then having to plough through them trying to find the good ones. Being the heavy handed oaf that I am with the shutter button, I usually get 2 or 3 shots of the same thing. Then to come home and plough through them in LightRoom certainly takes some of the enjoyment out of photography. I wonder if that is why I have been enjoying film of late.
Anyone else hat that part of the process, or are you happy sitting at a desk sorting through photos?
Took Helga the Holga out for a play today. Finally some luck.
It is certainly no Canon EOS 5D, but it is fun all the same.
All on Kodak 400TX.

Keen eyed Billy spotted this ad for Foxtel and grabbed a photo for me. Let me just say this right now, I do not endorse Foxtel!
Well I have finally developed a roll of film that I out through the Holga. Hmmm, under whelmed would be one word to describe it. It is very hard work. I have a new found respect for those people that get sharp photos out of this plastic medium format camera.
This is the 2nd frame out of that camera, and as it shows, I must be moving the camera when I push the shutter. The shutter is actually more like a lever on the side of the lens than a button that I am used to. Also, I had to bump the exposure quite a bit in processing it, so I think I need faster film. Ah well, you live and learn.
