Well, dependant on the weather, but because of the solstice, the sun is rising in my part of the world at 7:04am, the latest it will rise this year. So if you are in the southern hemisphere, tomorrow and the next couple of days are the days to be out there nabbing some glorious sun rise photos.

It is old news, but some may find it interesting. This program/website will allow you to make enormous prints of your favourite photos, be it photos of your loved ones, or a movie poster or even nudey ladies if you a young gentleman that lives on his own and has a lot of spare time. Here is one I prepared earlier.

Check it out, that is one good looking little camera. Now I have mentioned this camera on this blog before. And now that I have seen it, I want it. I doubt the bank balance will stretch that far, but a bloke needs to have a few things on the WANT list just in case he wins the lottery.
This is the new Micro four thirds system that Olympus and Panasonic have devised. It allows for interchangeable lenses and has got the photography world all hot and bothered at the moment. More about it here.
DPreview already have some shots taken with this camera online here. They look quite good.

Given the previous blog post talks about mobile (cell for the US audience) phone cameras, I thought I would ask the question. Anyone actually use their mobile phone camera? I know I do, but I have heard plenty of people scoff at the thought of it. Well it sure beats trying to get a 5D in my pocket. And it is handy for a quick shot of something you see in your travels.
Without the phone camera I wouldn’t have got this shot.
Granted, the cameras is mobile phones aren’t exactly the best cameras around (especially ones that are 12MP) but they are more than sufficient in grabbing a moment in time. Seeing all the people using their phones on Twitter is exactly what I mean.
So, who uses their mobile phone camera?
12 megapixels on a sensor the size of an ants testicle!!! Really, why are people still being sucked into this marketing malarky? I can’t wait to see how it performs on a day when the sun isn’t bright in the sky! Cloudy day, use the flash.

I would be hard pressed going past the Canon 5DmkII, purely because I have a range on Canon lenses. There are Leica film cameras that would also be high on the list, and an Olympus Pen F, but I am pretty sure the 5D2 would top the list.

Finally, after trying for months, I have acquired a Polaroid camera. It is a Polaroid OneStep Plus, which actually uses SX-70 film, but you can do a bit of fiddling to get it to accept the easier to get 600 film. Given the cost of the film, I don’t expect to have this camera for long. Anywhere from $20-$30 for a 10 pack!
It does produce some fantastic images though. I have some fiddling to do to get it to stop over exposing the shots. The 600 film is a lot more sensitive than the SX-70 film, and a lot of people who do use 600 film in SX-70 cameras use a ND filter over their lens. Time to have a play on the weekend.
