He is quite a good little article about people craving the latest and greatest camera gear.

All cameras have are essentially the same thing, a shutter that exposes light on a light-sensitive surface. Sure, there are differences in engineering tolerances and technical ranges and the latest technology. But Ansel Adams didn’t have today’s latest gadget. He had know-how, and practice.

Dan Dyer makes some good points, but I would argue that a person with a point and shoot will never be able to take a shot like this.

Yes, a composition like that you could achieve with a point and shot, but I doubt you can get a narrow depth of field like that. Also, the biggest bug bare with me and point and shoots is the shutter lag.
