Did all these photos change the world? That’s questionable. Are they all great photographs? Again, it is debatable. What I will say is that there are some superb photos in the list. And some very confronting ones to. You have been warned.

Are Open-Source Cameras The Way Of The Future?
It is certainly an interesting concept.
Scientists at Stanford are working on an open source camera that could change the world of photography by giving programmers the power to change and add features to a camera via software updates. If the technology catches on, our cameras will no longer be limited by the software that comes pre-installed from the manufacturer.

Am I the only one who didn’t hear about this?
Just on a month ago there was a rather nasty accident at the Sayano-Shushenskaya dam in Russia. Here is what the Big Picture has to say…
On August 17th, near Sayanogorsk in south central Russia, a catastrophic accident took place in the turbine and transformer rooms of the hydroelectric plant of the Sayano-Shushenskaya dam. The exact cause is still under investigation, but what is known so far is that a tremendous amount of water from the Yenisei River flooded the turbine room, causing at least one transformer explosion and extensive damage to all ten turbines, destroying at least three of them. 74 workers are known to have lost their lives in the accident, while one remains missing. Additionally, 40 tons of transformer oil were spilled into the river, killing an estimated 400 tons of trout in two fisheries. Investigators plan to release findings in two months, as Prime Minister Vladimir Putin called for a nationwide infrastructure inspection.
Here is a great example of photos telling the story. Click the link below for more.

Roadtrip 2009, the plan.
Well this years road trip is coming up and I am after tips and places to see along the Murray River. I am going to try and start as near to the source as possible, and then spend 2 weeks driving along the Murray, probably as far as the SA border.
If I have time, I might even go up to Mungo NP from Mildura.
Any advice from people that either live along the route or have done a similar trip would be greatly appreciated.
Road trip! Whoohooo!
Potential route.

Week 8, and it was the photo the masses had been asking for. A full frontal nude shot.
What an arse of a shot to set up. I really should have diffused the flash to soften the shadows a touch. Ah well, you live and learn. Pity there wont be a next time for the shower shot. Or will there? Stay tuned.
Week 9. The 1st day of spring, and I decided I would ride my push bike to work and back. A nice 50km round trip through dairy farms and some nice flat country.
That shot was taken on the way home yesterday. You wouldn’t realise I was humming along at about 25kph at the time. Well you might if you look at the look on my face.
There you go. 2 more weeks down in the 52 Week Project.
