This weeks 52 week project. I will start by quoting what I wrote on Flickr.

Ha! This weeks self portrait is done with 5 days to spare!

Today was my first swim of the summer. I have had a bit of a nasty chest infection that has kept me out of the water up until now. The water is beautiful, if a bit rough today.

Here I am napping under a wave.

It is a great little camera.

Now, for those wondering how I did it, there really is no trick at all. The little camera has a very wide field of view, and as such, makes anything that is close, look like it is far away. The camera was at arms length in this shot.

This weeks self portrait for the 52 Week Project was taken at sunset at Tilbury Cove. Pity the clouds came over, as it was a stunning site about 30 minutes beforehand when I rode past on the pushbike.

Once again, I set up the off camera flash.

norbist info : Flash at full power, off to the right of the frame at 45 degrees to me.

Week 6 of the 52 week project, and I had left it til the last day to get a photo sorted. It has been a long day, and I was drawing a blank as far as ideas go. I have a few in the idea bank, but they all require props. So while I was sitting there drawing a blank on a photo, and blog posts, it came to me. A photo of me drawing a blank.

I even hooked up the off flash gear and go myself into norbist mode.

norbist setup: Camera with 12-24mm lens sitting on lap. Flash sitting precariously on top of a tissue box on top of the printer. Snooted through the 80-200f/2.8L lens. Black beanie behind it all trying to soak up reflected light. That nearly worked too.

This weeks self portrait snuck up on me a bit. I got dragged up to Sydney today for work and forgot today was the end of week 4. When I was preparing for a ride on my bike, I remembered, Tuesday is the end of the week for the 52 Week Project . So this weeks shot is hastily thrown together, and for that I apologise, but if it tells you one thing about me, it is that I am not the most organised person in the world.

Something else, I ride a push bike a bit. Not as often as I would like, but I hope that is about to change with the arrival of Miriam. I get a lot of enjoyment out of cycling, and I am hoping that I can get back in to it like I used to be. Some people know of the little ride I did in 2005 for charity. It was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding things I have ever done, and I would like to think I could do something like that again one day.

So that is 4 weeks down, only another 48 to go.  🙂

This shot won out in the vote from the last 2 days.

In the past 12 months I have turned into a collector of old cameras. Well, up until a couple of weeks ago when I offloaded about 13 of them.

I kept 6. This old Polaroid OneStep Plus is amongst the group I kept. The right film (SX-70) is bloody expensive, and even the cheaper 600 film still costs about $25 for a 10 pack, but I love the results. Every photo I take makes me fell like I have been transported back in time. Back to a time when I had unlimited energy, no worries and blonde hair.
